At the heart of Southeast San Diego, a beloved neighborhood garden is being transformed into The Village, a vibrant community food hub and mixed-use destination designed to advance food equity, health, and opportunity. Reimagined from the existing Mt. Hope Community Garden, this two-story facility will offer space for local food production and distribution, community gatherings, economic development, and wellness programming.

More than just a garden, The Village is a place where residents can learn to grow their own food, compost, and build meaningful connections with their neighbors. As part of the larger Good Food District initiative, this neighborhood-scale effort is focused on shifting community inequalities through urban agriculture, food sovereignty, arts and culture, and wealth building. This project reflects a powerful vision for a more resilient and self-sustaining community.
