SANDAG On-Call Construction Management Services
Mid-Coast Corridor Transit Project Segments 3 & 4, San Diego, California
DESCRIPTION
San Diego Region’s largest ever rail infrastructure project, The Mid-Coast Trolley Extension Project expanded MTS services from Downtown San Diego to the University City community. Project goals included adding corridor commuter capacity for existing and future travel demands by providing an effective alternative to congested freeways and roadways, resulting in fewer vehicle miles being traveled.
RE Services staff member, Rafael Lopez, while working with another employer, served the key role of Office Engineer for the project, ensuring contract compliance, managing inspection staff, providing field inspection as needed, and reviewing deliverables. Due to scale of this multi-billion project, the magnitude presented a major challenge for document management. The project was broken down into multiple segments each, consisting of their own sets of documentation that needed to be coordinated with each other at segment overlaps.
The project was completed in 2021 with a total project cost of $2.1 billion.
